The facing side & construction period of a building are the most important factors to determine before starting any Feng Shui survey. In all cases some information will be required from you, the property owner.

In most cases it's quite clear which is the facing side and when your survey is carried out this will be confirmed. The facing side may or may not be at the architectural front of your property, but if you would like to assess this for yourself, please click here for some guidelines.

Having determined the facing side, an accurate compass reading will need to be taken before drawing up the chart for analysis. If you would like to know how to take an accurate compass bearing, please click here for an explanation.

The year of construction is the basis of the Xuan Kong or Flying Star chart. If you know the year of construction and no major work has been carried out since, then it's straightforward. If the year is unknown or major alterations have been done, further analysis is required. Please click here for an explanation.
