After gaining a further qualification in electronics engineering, he followed a career in engineering design and computer technology. He has designed and produced many industrial systems and consumer items and was commissioned to carry out numerous government funded feasibility studies into microprocessor design based products. Whilst in France, his work has involved property management, renovation and garden design. He has worked as a freelance consultant and translator, assisting an English-speaking clientele with purchases or sales of French property. He has also been the regional manager for a self-catering holiday accommodation agency, being responsible for the selection and quaity control of country properties. He began his research into Feng Shui in 1995 after having been introduced to it via a friend who had lived in China. He found that the basic principles were logical and mathematical and that harmony in design was an essential factor. The blending of the scientific and the artistic approach to interior and building design corresponded with his training and qualifications, making it a natural addition to his skills. Stephen has received classical training in Form School (Xingfa), Eight house (Bazhai) & Flying Star (XuanKong Feixing) and holds the Higher Diploma issued by FSRC. He is part of their worldwide network of recommended practitioners. He has studied under one of the world’s foremost and most respected experts, Master Joseph Yu of the Feng Shui Research Centre in Toronto. The rational approach and intolerance to superstitions or fallacies has helped to establish traditional Feng Shui among the most effective of design criteria in 21st century western life. ![]()
Joseph Yu B.Sc. is a mathematics and physics graduate who originally taught mathematics at university. His Feng Shui studies started when he decided to prove that Feng Shui and other Chinese metaphysical subjects were mere superstition. As Joseph studied the ancient texts in order to find fault with old practices like astrology and Feng Shui, he was impressed by the rich heritage of Chinese culture and the way it could provide people means to improve their quality of life. As luck would have it, he had as his neighbour an old Feng Shui Master with whom he engaged in lively debates about the art, the principles, and the methods of Feng Shui. In addition to writing 14 mathematics text books, Joseph has co-authored "The Complete Idiot's Guide to I-Ching" and "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Feng Shui". He is the founder of the Feng Shui Research Centre (FSRC) of Toronto, Canada. |
